Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, I had the luxury of spending a couple of days with my Mother just before she passed away. During my visit we spent a good amount of time sitting on the porch that you see in the photos below. We talked for hours on end. Reminiscing about all the great times that we had as a family in Blue Lake Springs. Many memories were shared that night on the porch, and it was simply a wonderful time to be there with both of them. My parents had recently been through a rather difficult period. Each of them dealing with several health issues, none critical, but emotionally draining nonetheless. They both hung in there through this time and kept looking forward to being in the Sierras as their time to recover. During my stay, my Father kept saying, "we needed this" when referring to being in the mountains. My Father will always remember their final days together in the Sierras as a wonderful time that he and I were blessed to have with her. I had completely forgotten about taking these photos of my parents, and found them a few nights ago while retrieving another photo from my camera. These ten photos were taken on the same night, on their porch, where we had been talking, laughing, and reminiscing. It was a wonderful time, and to relive it again through a photographic sequence is fantastic. I have left these images in their original state. They have not been cropped, edited, or retouched, and are in their original sequence. I believe that they should be enjoyed as they are, a visual record of the great time we had that night. I will be making some printed copies of these photos and will send them to those of you that would like copies. In loving memory of my Mother, John J. Goggin |
